Backlink

  • Names: Backlink, Incoming link
  • Names(es): "Backlink", Enlace entrante
  • Definition: Referring to a resource A, backlink would be a link from any other resource into A
  • Follow-up: Backlinks might be like comments being made on resource A without an annotation system
  • Follow-up: Backlinks are already registered in some cases: Search Engines might tell you about pages linking into a given URL. MediaWiki has a "what links here" feature.
  • Follow-up: Information about backlinks might be stored in a linkbase
  • Follow-up: However, most times you don't know what fragment in resource A the backlinks refers to.

Categorization

  • Names(es): Categorización, "Bookmarking", Folksonomía
  • Definition: Tagging of resources, So some calification is available about the resource, and related resources (same tag) might be easily accessed.
  • Follow up: Categorization might work as some kind of moderation. Most tagged elements resources be worth looking at (regardless the tags might be negative about it).

Concept

  • Names: Concept

  • Definition: One simple idea/thing that can be expressed. For example "Socrates is mortal" may be a concept. As well as the definition of "Socrates", "is" and "mortal".
  • Follow-up: Concepts related to objects or other concepts might sum up a Concept compilation (such as Cyc), which can be used for reference and for reasoning.
  • Follow-up: A system such as Everything2 is focused on showing related concepts

Dissection

  • Definition: The declaration of the parts and linked anchors contained in a reference.
  • Follow-up: The items in the dissection might contain some information about related annotations.

Fragment Identifier

Linkbase

  • Definition: A data store specialized in links
  • Follow-up: Might contain customized attributes for the links, ternary or N-ary links, and links which are not explicitly definied in their source
  • Follow-up: Linkbase might reference/delegate on other linkbases ("Lookup this (other) linkbase which has reported to have links related to the resource you requested").

Moderation

  • Definition: Procedures to review if a resource or annotation is worthy or noxious, so the system can highlight, hide or remove elements for the interest of the users.

Reference

  • Names: Reference
  • Names(es): Referencia
  • Definition: Annotation System's record of one or many resources which are instances of the same work (e.g. different copies of the same article), where annotations introduced might be shared.
  • Example: Some software documentation translated into different languages
  • Example: Some movie's video, plus original and dubbed audio tracks, plus subtitles.
  • Not example: Different versions of the same document, as concepts represented and annotated might change.
